2024 Kenneth C. Topping Planning Innovation Award
This American Planning Association award honors the best new approach to solving a hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, or resilience problem within the past two years.
The Village of Owego's jurisdictional annex to the Tioga County Multi-hazard Mitigation Plan was selected given the extensive and productive collaboration amongst the awardees: Barton and Loguidice (B&L), J. Nucci Consulting, LLC, Southern Tier 8 Regional Board, The Village of Owego, and Tioga County.

Preservation Association of the Southern Tier (PAST) award for her home elevation in 2018
Recognition
National Park Service recognized my historic home elevation. It was used to advertise the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines on Flood Adaptation for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings. The house is also included in the guideline as a best practice for elevation of a historic home.

“I am honored by this recognition from the Preservation League, I entered this field as a passion project. In 2015, my home and family were elevated; the house above the floodwaters and my family above the fear of future flooding that would turn our lives inside out again. Since then, I have been working towards equity in disaster resilience and shining a light on the needs of under-served communities like mine that don’t have the municipal staffing and resources necessary to access climate adaptation funding.”
